Create a travel diary and capture memories
Travelling - is there anything more beautiful? Getting around the world, visiting different countries and cities, immersing yourself in new cultures, meeting interesting people, listening to different languages, trying new food and relaxing - these are probably all ideas that most people immediately have when they hear the word "travel". And all this is reason enough to want to create a travel diary.
For oneself, a trip to a new country, for example the first trip to Africa or Asia, will be remembered forever. But often you want to share these experiences and adventures with others, especially with descendants, to show them how big, beautiful and exciting the world outside your own circle is. If you create a travel diary, you can reproduce narratives from back then in detail.
A travel diary can hold everything you consider important: be it bullet-point notes on the individual days, photos, mementos or small entries from the people in your destination. A travel diary design keeps your memories alive.
At Fotoalben Discount, we are experts when it comes to capturing memories. We are also experts in the field of designing individual and personal photo albums and offer you everything you need to be able to design your travel diary.
In our blog post, we want to present you with ideas on how to design your travel diary to capture the unique and formative memories forever.
Get creative and design a travel diary yourself
A travel diary design is a good option to process the processed impressions of the trip better and in the long term. Often, one is flooded with so many impressions while travelling that not all of them can be stored by our brain. Valuable fragments can get lost over time.
A travel diary is an optimal solution to counteract the loss of valuable memories. If you create a travel diary, you can record all impressions and even the smallest events in it.
In order to create a travel diary, you first need a suitable book. The choice of book is entirely up to the author. Some people are satisfied with a simple, somewhat thicker notebook, others prefer real diaries. A blank diary is the most popular and handy format. For beginners, however, ready-made books are also suitable, in which questions or points worth noting are already marked.
If you choose a blank diary, you are of course most free in your design and can live out your creativity the most. Nevertheless, you should ask yourself a few questions and answer them before designing your travel diary, so that you can create a clear and satisfying travel diary:
- Who is the diary for? Is it just for yourself or as illustrative material for friends and family? This question is relevant to determine the writing style of the book.
- What do you want to write down? Ask yourself what you want to remember many years from now, what you might forget and which defining moments you absolutely must document.
- No enumeration! It is not the purpose of a travel diary to meticulously document everything every hour. Be aware that the travel diary should record defining moments and unique experiences.
- Not a classic diary! A travel diary is not a classic diary. You do not have to follow a chronology. How you arrange the experiences is up to you. Memories can, for example, be arranged according to your personal sense of relevance or according to categories such as nature or city.
- Grammar does not matter! You are not writing a novel. Therefore, linguistic accuracy is not relevant and does not diminish the quality of your memoir.
- Illustrations bring the experience to life! You don't have to be a drawing talent, but: small illustrations or smileys make the moment come alive again during repeated reading and give the entry a personal touch.
Freedom in designing a travel diary
How often you write in your diary and what, is up to you. It should in no way feel like a chore. To capture the moments as well as possible, we recommend taking the following materials with you for writing:
- Pens (ballpoint pens, fineliners, felt-tip pens, pencils...)
- Eraser
- Glue
- Scissors
Ideas on how to design the travel diary are, for example, documenting overheard dialogue and customs. For example, if you see a funny sign, learn about a new custom in a country or have an unusual conversation with a local, it is worth documenting it in your diary. For example, you can take excellent photos of signs and stick them in your travel diary or draw them yourself.
If you already know before your trip that you want to create a travel diary, it is also worthwhile to not only head for the main streets and attractions when travelling. Explore hidden alleys, discover secret tips and document them. On your next trip or when acquaintances visit the places, you will be grateful to have documented addresses or directions to these secret spots.
When designing a travel diary, be sure to work with visuals - it makes your travel diary more vivid. For example, incorporate airline, train or local transport tickets when you design your travel diary to help you remember. It is also a nice idea to stick a map of the place or country you are in in the travel diary and mark the places you have visited there. You can create your own legend for this and mark places differently, for example according to what made a big impression on you or which place you found particularly exciting.
The travel diary design is a reflection of your journey. Therefore, why not include a mood page on which you document your mood on the individual days with colours or smileys and perhaps note what lifted or depressed your mood.
Designing a travel diary is a personal thing that can take you back to the best moments of your life even years later. When you design a travel diary on your next trip, you create unforgettable memories and encourage your creativity in the process!
